THETFORD. Town in Orange County. New Hampshire grant of 23,200 acres to
John Phelps and sixty-one associates August 12, 1761. Line established with West Fairlee
and Strafford, 1802. Annexation of part of Norwich authorized, 1839.
THIRMING. New York grant of 20,000 acres by Lt. Gov. Colden to
Edmond Fanning & Co. February 16, 1775. Covered the northeast corner of the state, now Canaan.

New York.
THOMLINSON. New Hampshire grant. See Grafton.
TINMOUTH. Town in Rutland County. New Hampshire grant of 23,040 acres to
Joseph Hooker and sixty-three associates September 15, 1761. Part incorporated with parts
of Ira, Poultney and Wells into Middletown October 28, 1784. Part annexed to Wallingford
October 19, 1793. See Kelso for New York grant.
TOPSHAM. Town in Orange County. New Hampshire grant of 23,040 acres to
George Frost, Esq., and eighty-one associates August 17, 1763. New York grant confirming
New Hampshire charter June 12, 1776. Boundary lines established, 1799.
TOWNSHEND. Town in Windham County. New Hampshire grant of 23,040 acres
to John Hazeltine and sixty-eight associates June 20, 1753. Charter renewed August 20,
1762. New Hampshire charter confirmed by New York grant April 2, 1767. Annexation of
Acton authorized, 1840.
TOWNSHEND. New York grant of 30,000 acres by Gov. Tryon to
Lord Geo. Townshend & Co. June 5, 1772, covered lands in St. Albans and vicinity chartered by New
Hampshire. Not the present town of Townshend in Windham County.
TROY. Town in Orleans County. Name changed from Missisquoi October 26,
1803. Missisquoi (or Missiskuoie) was incorporated out of Avery's Grant (11,040 acres) and
Kelly's Grant (12,000 acres) October 28, 1801.
TRURO. New York grant of 22,000 acres by Gov. Tryon April 14, 1771; covered
lands in Orange and vicinity.
TUNBRIDGE. Town in Orange County. New Hampshire grant of 23,040 acres to
Abraham Root and sixty-four associates September 3, 1761. Vermont grant of a gore
between Royalton and Tunbridge to Hon. Paul Spooner and fourteen associates June 21,
1785, by its charter was made a part of Tunbridge.

Tunbridge.
